Flyer, Welsh National Opera presents ‘Pelleas and Melisande’ by Debussy, Birmingham Hippodrome

The word ‘Unknowable’ is printed in purple, which adds to the atmosphere and interest. Inside, the Director, David Pountney and Conductor, Lothar Koenigs introduce the opera. The creative team are listed as Set Designer Johan Engels, Costume Designer Marie-Jeanne Lecca and Lighting Designer Mark Jonathan. The cast are Pelleas – Jacques Imbrailo, Melisande – Jurgita Adamonyte, Golaud – Christopher Purves, Genevieve – Leah-Marian Jones, Arkel – Scott Wilde and Yniold – Rebecca Bottone. The Director, David Pountney, describes this opera as ‘A neurotic, dysfunctional family live in this morbid, death-orientated castle. Pelleas and Melisande a fairy tale gone bad but with amazingly atmospheric music.’. The opera was performed on Saturday 13 June 2015 at 19:15.
