The paper programme is printed in full colour and features an illustration of a giant holding a goose, a castle and a magical beanstalk on the front cover. The production directed by Michael Hurll with choreography by Alan Harding and musical direction by Gwyn Davies starred Cilla Black as ‘Jack’, Gareth Hunt as ‘Flesh Creep’ and Jimmy Cricket as ‘Silly Jimmy’. Inside the programme are black and white photographs alongside cast biographies. Some colour photographs are surrounded by beanstalk illustrations. There are many advertisements for forthcoming shows at Birmingham Hippodrome as well as other theatres. An advert for TSB Bank has been given a ‘Jack in the Beanstalk’ theme. There is a description of The Hippodrome Shop which sold coasters, cuddly Hipps, sweat shirts, t-shirts, mugs, paperweights, autograph books, fuzzy bugs, badges, rosettes and ‘The History of Birmingham’ book. The pantomime commenced on 19 December 1983 and ran until 25 February 1984.
